IDAHOT :INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA & BIPHOBIA. BREAKING THE SILENCE.

As you may know, last Sunday was the 17th of May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia IDAHOT . This day is celebrated to commemorate the removal of homosexuality from the WHO’s list of mental illnesses, which occurred on May 17, 1990.

This day was first celebrated in 2005 through a campaign coordinated by the IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia) Committee. Its main objective is to coordinate actions that help to denounce the discrimination that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people have to endure, and to help in the cooperation and advancement of their rights all over the world.

This year the theme chosen by IDAHOT was “BREAKING THE SILENCE“. They want us, whether with our families, our friends, at work, or anywhere else, to stop hiding without carrying the stigma of being ashamed of our sexualities, gender identities or sexual characteristics, to simply be who we are or want to be.

From unity comes strength, and from this strength the “NOISE” that will drive the entire LGBTQ+++ community that still feels alone, will let them know that we are all one and fighting for the same thing. FREEDOM and EQUALITY for all sexual, gender and bodily minorities.

Ruben Galarreta wants to put in value the use of fashion as an external expression, being able to show ourselves without ties, without prejudices and without stigmas.

Our way of dressing speaks of us, and we want to speak out loudly and clearly, so that we can be heard to feel proud of who we are, where we come from and that we belong to the LGTBIQ+++ community. Hence our different collections (GENDERLESS, HAZARD, INFERNO, NOIR, …). With which we can show our way of dressing, expressing ourselves, having fun and above all loving ourselves. Ruben Galarreta is not just a brand, it’s an attitude.
